Biography 

Matthew McKinnon serves as Assistant Professor of Voice and Musical Theatre in the Music Department of the School of Communication and Performing Arts at East Texas Baptist University. He recently received his Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance degree from the University of Oklahoma. He also holds a Master of Music in Opera Performance from the University of Oklahoma and a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Throughout his career, he has taught applied voice, with an emphasis on classical and musical theatre repertoire. His research interests include English art song, particularly the works of Arthur Somervell and its pedagogical value in training developing baritone voices. He has performed extensively in opera, oratorio, and recital settings and is known for his interpretive depth and stylistic versatility.
